Comprehensive help from Panattoni and the Robert Dobrzycki Foundation
The catastrophic flooding that hit southern Poland caused massive devastation, but also united the community and business world around helping those affected.
– The flood is a huge tragedy that we could not look on indifferently. Panattoni and related organizations were quick to get involved in relief efforts at various levels. As early as September 15, we donated PLN 200,000 to a collection launched by the Polish Business Council. We also made our warehouses available for aid distribution,” says Robert Dobrzycki, president and co-owner of Panattoni.
Due to the huge scale of the losses, in the short term the Robert Dobrzycki Foundation has allocated an additional PLN 250,000 to a collection organized by Corporate Connections. All funds are being distributed locally, in cooperation with the authorities of Lower Silesia, for necessary supplies, repairs and reconstruction of the damaged infrastructure. The coordination is the responsibility of the Aid HUB, which ensures that the activities are effective and run smoothly. Panattoni and the Foundation also supported Radio 357’s collection for the reconstruction of a nursery and kindergarten in Oldrzychowice Klodzkie.
The developer didn’t just limit itself to financial support. A group of volunteers from the #PanattoniTeam and friendly entities – the Robert Dobrzycki Foundation, Blue Assets, Harden Construction and Newport Logistics Fund – headed to Klodzko to support local communities with direct actions. On September 23 and 24, 21 volunteers from the Poznan, Warsaw and Katowice regions helped clean up the flood-damaged Sports and Recreation Center in Klodzko.
– This center was completely flooded. It was there that we were directed by the local authorities, to whom I reported our group’s readiness to help,” says Malwina Pawlowska, managing director of the Robert Dobrzycki Foundation.
– The sight was cruel, but our group was well equipped and prepared. We tore off plaster, hauled away debris and dismantled the parquet floor in the sports hall, where matches had been held just a week earlier. Our assistance would not have been so effective without the local coordination of Sylwia Bielawska and director Bogdan Bochmatiuk, – says Malwina Pawlowska.
– On behalf of myself and all the volunteers, I wanted to appeal to the companies to also help in this way. There are people in place who are hurt, tired, but all the time working to clean, repair and someday return to normal. Presence and physical help – there on the spot is now precious,” adds Malwina Pawlowska.
– Helping is not a sprint, but a marathon. With the combined forces of volunteers, financial and logistical support, we have a chance to contribute to the reconstruction of the destroyed sites and help people return to normal life,” concludes Robert Dobrzycki.
